Clum and Patchen Farm
2635 Route 9, Livingston, NY (intersection of Platner Road and Route 9)
The 2012 Country Barbecue will be held at David Rockefeller’s Clum and Patchen Farm in Livingston, NY. The annual Memorial Day Weekend barbecue, which attracts over 1,000 people, is CLC’s major fund raising event of the year. Throughout the history of the event, it has been held at various properties throughout the County that have been permanently protected with an easement through CLC.
The Rockefeller property features over 400 acres of prime farmland. A long drive lined with poplar trees leads to flat expansive fields with tremendous Catskill views. Working with CLC and the American Farmland Trust, David Rockefeller and his wife Peggy chose to conserve the property in 1992.
We are very grateful to David Rockefeller and Farm Manager John Walston for hosting our annual fundraiser. The property is a wonderful showcase of the beauty of the county and its great agricultural potential.
Peter Paden, CLC Executive Director
The Country Barbecue was last held at the Rockefeller property in 2005. Back then, the event was called the Shad Bake and Country Barbecue. In an effort to conserve limited Shad stocks, CLC removed Shad from the menu and updated the event name to reflect the modified culinary approach.
