On Thursday, July 5, CLC met with Congressman Chris Gibson and his District Director, Steve Bulger. We met at Triple Creek Farm in Taghkanic. CLC is working with Scenic Hudson to secure federal funds from the Federal Farm and Ranchland Protection Program (FRPP) to permanently protect this family farm. Representative Gibson sits on the U.S. House of Representatives Agricultural Committee. The House takes up the 2013 Farm Bill this week, and an announcement on the current round of FRPP projects is due any day. During the visit Rick Skoda, owner of the farm, explained that an FRPP grant and conservation easement would be a tremendous help to enable the farm to stay in production for generations to come.
