David Rockefeller’s Clum and Patchen Farm- 2635 Route 9, Livingston
Join 1,000 supporters of local conservation at a beautiful Columbia County farm for a barbecue featuring local food, an array of wines, and locally brewed beer. The fundraiser is the final event of CLC’s 25th anniversary celebration.
Entertainment
The fun begins in the parking area where you can take a ride on a horse drawn trolley, organized by Dreaming Tree Farm. If you want more, you can take another ride around the Rockefeller’s beautiful farm land.
The Cathy Grier Blues Band will be performing much of the afternoon and evening. Time Out describes Grier’s music as combining “rhythmic guitar, gutsy vocals and an infectious energy.”
Sharing the main stage with the Blues Band will be the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus. Bindlestiff’s world renowned performances combine amazing feats, wit, and comic timing. Their work often features tight rope and balancing acts, sword swallowing, rope tricks, juggling, and hijinks. When not on the stage, they’ll be cruising through the crowd – juggling, riding unicycles, and stilt walking.
Throughout the event, you can also visit the puppet tent where The Ivy Vine Players will be performing. It’s a one-woman show with a cast of several dozen characters.
A wide variety of animals will be on display. Silent Wings will be showing off birds of prey who are current residents of their rehabilitation program. Check out their talons and learn more about these magnificent creatures. Wild Goose Chase will be doing two demonstrations of Border Collie duck herding. Children of all ages can also enjoy the farm animal petting zoo run by Blue Star Farms.
There is also a host of hands-on activities for children. CLC’s environmental education tent will be celebrating the beginning of summer. Childen can make their own child-sized butterfly wings, decorate insect collection boxes, build and decorate kites they can then fly, and make jewelry with UV beads that change color in sunlight. Younger children can enjoy playing in grain boxes stocked with kid friendly ‘farm tools’ and toy animals. Young builders can work with T.D. Smith Stonemasonry.
Auction
This year also features the return of the live auction. That’s right, a real fast-talking live auction with local auctioneer, Larry Benson. There is also a no-talking (aka silent) auction. Over 75 businesses and individuals have made donations. Starting bids range from $15 to $7,500. The top item is a vacation to Patagonia, Chile. A week long trip for two offers guests guided activities in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Bidding starts at 50% of the retail value and 100% of the proceeds go to support CLC’s work. See a sample of the items and place an early bid.

Thank you Michael Polemis and Judy Grunberg
After a combined 33 years on CLC’s Board of Trustees, Michael Polemis and Judy Grunberg are stepping down. Thanks to them we have more wildlife habitat, more places to connect with the natural world, and more working farms. Everyone who lives in or visits Columbia County is better off as a result of the time, talent, and resources they have devoted to our work.
