In New York, money doesn’t grow on trees, but some jobs do. The Environmental Protection Fund works!
Join CLC, We Love New York, and dozens of other organizations as we rally in support of New York’s Environmental Protection Fund. We will meet with state legislators to advocate in support of these programs as part of New York’s economic recovery.

The Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) has provided more than $1 billion since 1993 to support critical programs that protect our area’s natural resources, public health, and local industries including tourism. Our local economy has been enhanced and supported thanks to the EPF, which has pumped over $15 million into our local economy. Below are a few examples of how the EPF has paid off for Columbia County:
- Over $2.2 million has been invested in developing and improving municipal parks in Hudson, Greenport, Valatie, Kinderhook, and restoring important Columbia County historical attractions like the Olana State Historical Site which has economic impact of $7.9 million annually and supports 267 jobs in the local economy.
- More than $1.4 million in assistance has been provided to municipalities and farmers throughout Columbia County to comply with mandated programs to protect water quality.
- Nearly $1 million has been invested in local businesses, municipal planning and services, and industrial development in Columbia County.
- $9.8 million has been invested in preserving our county’s open spaces and family farms in Ancram, Kinderhook, Stuyvesant, Hudson, Austerlitz and across Columbia County. Very important to our county’s future economic health, working landscapes generate over $200 million annually with active farming producing $66 million in economic output yearly.
- An additional $1 million has been deployed to protect and improve the natural and scenic areas in Clermont, Hawthorne Valley, Hudson, Stuyvesant, Ghent, Harlemville, Copake and other communities near the Hudson River and other Columbia County waterfront areas. By supporting the EPF you can help ensure continued funding for these important programs in your district, and protect what we love most about Columbia County.
