Go Birding! Treasure Hunt

Celebrate International Migratory Bird Day with CLC. Go on a treasure hunt with bird themed activities along the way. Participants with their own GPS device can do a geocache and follow GPS coordinate clues to find hidden containers. Attendees can also do a no-tech-needed nature quest and use rhyming clues to complete the challenge. Each adventure will involve several bird-centered activities and opportunities to record observations in a take home journal. Prizes will be awarded as part of each activity! Each adventure takes about a half hour.

Fishing Derby

Changes in the Hudson River Over the Last 150 Years

Dan Miller, the Habitat Restoration Coordinator for DEC Hudson River Estuary, compares historical and current maps of the Hudson River. He will speak about his work identifying opportunities to restore important habitats. Miller has been involved in extensive research identifying historic conditions in the River and how they have changed over the past 150 years. With the understanding of historic change, he hopes to partner with communities along the River to implement habitat restoration projects that will ensure a healthy and productive future for the River and the surrounding communities.
