Photography in the Landscape
Calling attention to the natural and agricultural beauty of Columbia County. Vote on the Photography in the Landscape Audience Award by clicking on the stars. Where are the photos by Hiroshi Kazo? I love MANY of these–but his peony close-up was by far my favorite. I will look again–I got up to page 6 and didn’t see it.
Not all of the photos from the Spencertown Academy show are in the online gallery. Not everyone submitted a digital version of their photos.
What is the prize? Are there mutliple prizes? I note that many of the photos are artistic photography by professional artists. Are there 2 categories; one for professional artists and one for photographers?
The only prize is the recognition at having won the Audience Award. There is only one audience award.

WOW!! Hard to choose “the best” from this group of splendid pictures. I’ve decided, even tho I appreciate the effects, to eliminate the ones with any gimmicks, like the color changes and the diagonal pictures. They show a nice esthetic and imagination but since the subject is landscape i’m focusing on the more natural examples. It will take a while for study, for sure.

I can not speak for the other photographers included in this collection. However, allow me to assure you that my photo BLUE DOOR has not in any way been manipulated or enhanced. In fact, what drew me to this spot at the base of Mercer Mountain on CR 5 in Canaan, NY, is the power of its graphic elements.
In my artist’s statement I write: … my eye is drawn to pattern, light and juxtaposition of space to object. Eliminating extraneous details before taking a picture, I edit as I compose…
In this day of computer manipulation and digital wizardry, my photos — mostly uncropped and using only natural light — are a throwback to a less complex time. My work is about the power of a line, a shape and/or an image in reality; it is not about creating a new reality.
