CLC holds a series of Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) Roundtables throughout the year to share news about CAC activities and related topics. You are always welcome to attend whether you are a CAC member or an interested resident.
On October 20th, 2014 Jamie Purinton of the Ancram Conservation Advisory Council and Gretchen Stevens of Hudsonia will present the Ancram Natural Resources Conservation Plan. The plan describes the environs of Ancram and details the important water, biological, farmland, and scenic resources found there. Much of the information about the wildlife and natural areas included in the report stems from the work of volunteers trained by Hudsonia and working with the Ancram CAC.
For more information, contact Christine Vanderlan, 518 392 5252, ext 208; or Jamie Purinton, Ancram CAC Chair: 518 329 2337.

Lets Learn about Bats and Build a Bathouse

Saturday, October 25th , 2014 4:00pm

Schor Conservation Area – Pavilion – 58 Shoreview Dr, Canaan

In the spirit of Halloween, we invited wildlife biologist Casey Tompkins to help us explore the life of bats – their amazing adaptations and great benefit to our ecosystems; the threats they face; and how we can encourage them around our home.
Casey Tompkins will first introduce us to the life of bats at the Schor pavilion, then he will lead us on a walk in the woods to discuss the natural habitat of bats. Finally, we will all walk over to CLC’s barn to build bat boxes that participants get to take home to provide a safe haven for bats in their own garden.
We ask for a $5 fee to cover bathouse construction costs. Please, register for this event so we know how many participants to expect.
