• All buyers should complete the application form. (Please note, users already registered with our Farmer Landowner Match program don’t need to complete the form again, just contact us to retrieve a password if it has been misplaced)
  • Once completed, buyers will be emailed a password, which will allow access to detailed listings of the properties. Staff will contact interested buyers to learn more about their goals, and to help them find an appropriate property.
  • Once a property of interest is located on our site, prospective buyers should contact the listing real estate agent indicated on our site and mention they were referred by our program, or request seller’s contact information from us when the property is for sale by owner. The CALF program is not a fee-based activity and there are no fee arrangements with real estate agents.
  • At this stage, a conversation between the buyer and Columbia Land Conservancy or Dutchess Land Conservancy can commence regarding any mutual interest in establishing a conservation agreement (if appropriate) and/or finding a farmer to cultivate the land through our Farmer Landowner Match program

Both the CALF program and Farmer Landowner Match program can help buyers realize their vision of purchasing important farmland and ensuring it stays in production. Our team of volunteer farmers can provide advice and assistance, and our Down to Earth educational workshops help all parties learn how to achieve long term, successful farming relationships. Contact Marissa Codey at marissa@clctrust.org or 518 392 5252, ext. 211 for more information about the program.
