A variety of tools are available for farmers and landowners.

CLC’s work in support of agriculture combines farmland conservation techniques with farmland access programs to offer an array of options for helping to keep our local farms viable and in active production. To request CLC’s assistance with farmland protection, please contact Marissa Codey at marissa.codey@clctrust.org or 518.392.5252, ext. 211.

Conservation Strategies

CLC has been working with farm families for more than 25 years to protect farmland from non-agricultural development. Conservation easements are the tool that is used to ensure the long-term protection of our important agricultural resources. They can be donated or, in the case of qualifying working farms, can sometimes be purchased. CLC is also committed to working with farmland owners to explore new and innovative ways to keep farmland affordable for the next generation of farmers.

Resources and Community Events

CLC serves as a resource of information regarding farmland ownership, farmland conservation and farmland access, and we offer a range of related workshops and training opportunities like our Down to Earth Workshop Series.

Our staff is available to talk with you about your interest in farms and farming, and to discuss further how we can help. To arrange for a meeting, please contact Marissa Codey at marissa.codey@clctrust.org or 518.392.5252, ext. 211.
