Crandell Theatre

The Crandell Theatre is Columbia County’s oldest and largest theatre. An architectural gem, the Crandell has remained basically unchanged since built in 1926 by Walter S. Crandell, as a vaudeville house.
The theatre seats 534 patrons, with 112 of the seats in the balcony. The stage is 26 feet wide and 13 feet deep. The Crandell has a large concession stand, with approximately 40 different selections. Popcorn is popped daily on the premises.

The winner of “Looking at the Land” – a contest for young filmmakers will be screened at FilmColumbia. Locally Grown, a 12 minute documentary, is by 16-year-olds Kelt Wilska & Issak Van der Meulen.

Light refreshments will be served. Short films explore New Lebanon farmer’s market, a local farm, a rooftop organic farm in New York City, and Glynwood Center’s Keep Farming Program which had a pilot program in Chatham. The feature length film To Make a Farm tracks five young people who set out to establish their own local-supply food sources using sustainable means.
