Nature Explorer Backpacks

Check out nature at your local library! Thanks to a grant from the Land Trust Alliance’s New York Conservation Partnership Program, patrons of many local libraries will be able to take nature-based adventures with Explorer Backpacks free of charge. Starting this fall, families will also able to test-drive the Explorer Backpacks at public programs offered by the Columbia Land Conservancy in partnership with various libraries.

The 5 backpack themes include: Insects, Streams and Ponds, Birding, Night Sky, and Take a Hike.

Libraries participating include: Chatham Public Library, Claverack Library, Germantown Library, Hudson Area Library, Kinderhook Memorial Library, Livingston Free Library, New Lebanon Library, North Chatham Library, Philmont Library, Roeliff Jansen Community Library and the Valatie Free Library.

This project is supported with funding from the New York State Conservation Partnership Program (NYSCPP) and New York’s Environmental Protection Fund. The NYSCPP is administered by the Land Trust Alliance, in coordination with the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
