Conservation Advisory Council Roundtable

CLC’s Heidi Bock and Arianna Ferrario will be our guests, presenting “Mapping Vernal Pools in Columbia County.” Heidi and Arianna are undertaking an effort to ensure all the vernal pools on lands owned by CLC are mapped, as well as mapping vernal pools on private properties. They will describe how they and others are adding vernal pool data to an online state database.

Following the presentation, there will be time for Conservation Advisory Councils and other groups to discuss their work.

Land Use Training Workshop

The Columbia County Environmental Management Council announces “Using the Columbia County Natural Resources Inventory,” a land-use training workshop for municipal officials, including members of town boards, planning boards, conservation advisory councils, and committees involved in planning or zoning.

Using the Columbia County Natural Resources Inventory

This session offers an overview of the Columbia County Natural Resources Inventory, its content and uses, and small group work using the document. The Natural Resources Inventory (or NRI) is a reference document that summarizes and analyzes information about the physical, biological, and cultural aspects of the natural environment that shape Columbia County’s landscape. Participants will be introduced to one or more online map tools that provide natural resource information, complementing the NRI.

Certificates of participation will be provided for municipal training credits (3 hours).

Trainers:
Gretchen Stevens, Director, Biodiversity Resources Center, Hudsonia
Ingrid Haeckel, Conservation and Land-use Specialist, Hudson River Estuary Program

Sponsors:
Columbia County Environmental Management Council (EMC)
Columbia Land Conservancy

This project is funded in part by a grant from the New York State Environmental Protection Fund through the Hudson River Estuary Program of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
